WORKSHOPS
For the past 15 year I have taught art workshops to people of various ages ranging from small children right up to seniors as well as working with autistic and special needs students. Their abilities and cultural backgrounds have been varied, and I am inspired working with them one on one, or in groups. Workshops were held in various schools, libraries, institutions, as well as being tailored specifically for various private functions. Projects have included murals, paper mache, drawing, painting, clay sculpture, and many other forms of art creation. My objective is to empower students to discover their own artistic abilities and make them appreciate their own unique talents in a fun, creative and relaxing atmosphere.

If you are interested in having a workshop for your school, company, institution or private function, please contact Dania.

Angel Art Workshop at the Alderwood Library

This workshop was done with 40 children ages 5 to 12. The theme of Angels gave each child the opportunity to create their own unique Angel using a variety of materials. When the angels were completed each child received bells. There is an old saying that when one hears a bell an angel has received their wings. It was an inspiration to see all of the various angels that were done and to work with so many wonderful kids.

Youth Without Shelter YWS
YWS is a shelter for homeless youth between the ages of 16 and 24. These workshops are done on a weekly basis and have provided the youth with a positive opportunity to express their thoughts and feelings. By creating their own personal artwork, many have found that they have talents never before realized. They experience a strong sense of accomplishment along with pride in themselves. For some this is the first time in their lives that these emotions have been felt and experienced.

I have been project coordinator and held workshops for the past 5 years at YWS. All the youth, artists and staff and have enjoyed it tremendously and learned a great deal from each other. Many thanks to Toronto Arts Council for providing the financial support needed to nurture the creative spirit among the youth at Y.W.S. For inquiries or donations to this project please contact Youth Without Shelter. Your support is greatly appreciated.

WEDGEWOOD JUNIOR SCHOOL
This mural was done in celebration of Wedgewood's 50th Anniversary and included the participation of all the schools 422 students Everyone from kindergarden through to grade 5 had a chance to be involved. The mural was 5 feet by 30 feet and we all had a fantastic time creating this piece of art that now hangs proudly in the foyer of the school.

NIAGARA PUBLIC SCHOOL
The theme of this workshop was to recognize, appreciate and respect the many different nationalities and unique traditions of all of the students in the school. Each individual painted their self-portraits and symbols of their traditions on the map of Canada. This gave them a sense of pride in their and each others country of origin and also in their creative abilities. The students were in grades 4 and 5 and everyone had a fun and exciting time creating this mural.

OGDEN PUBLIC SCHOOL
The students in this workshop used self-hardening clay to create their self- portraits and also images of nature and animals. These were then painted with acrylic paints and strung together creating a hanging piece of art. The students were from grade 1,2,and 3. It was a very creative and fun atmosphere for all of us.

Seniors Watercolour Workshop
This workshop was held once a week for 2 hours. Each class had a different subject matter - still life, landscape, portraits and students choice. I started each session by doing a quick demonstration and then everyone proceeded to do some sketches, layouts and then started their paintings.
The atmosphere was always loose, warm and friendly. Conversation, questions and good humour flowed freely and everyone learned a lot in the process.

Many many thanks to all the students and especially to Linda, June and
Jackie for making this one of the most enjoyable teaching experiences, and
also for their warm friendship.
