Dania Madera-Lerman's paintings blend brilliant colour with bold vibrant strokes, giving her art incredible movement and life. Inspired by a deep love for music and nature, Dania's images capture the soul within her subjects. Her paintings are lively and exuberant and illustrate the passion within her brush.

Born in Toronto, Canada, Dania first discovered the love of "painting" when she was a small girl. As she moved a stick through the dark sand at Cawaja Beach, she marvelled at the line images that appeared from the lighter sand below. Since then, Dania has been fascinated by pictures and the use of line and colour to express herself creatively.

The variety of themes that show up in her work today is a reflection of the many worlds that Dania endlessly explores - from paintings of the great blues musicians- Muddy Waters, Big Bill Broonzy, Lightnin Hopkins ... to the wildly colourful florals and bold visionary works. Dania's art is a manifestation of her passion.

Inspiration has come from the Impressionists, primitive art, aboriginal art, the era of the Renaissance as well as contemporary art. These influences, coupled with extensive travels throughout Europe, Mexico, Canada and the U.S, have combined to provide Dania with a unique style and technique that is so evident in her work.

Other inspirations to her art include practising Yoga and TaiChi and being a strong supporter of human, animal and environmental rights. She also regularly contributes her paintings to charity events to be auctioned off, and for the last 5 years has set-up, co-ordinated and taught art workshops to homeless youth. All of this has helped make Dania's love of life and her art grow stronger. Says Madera-Lerman, "I feel incredibly lucky to live this life and to be able to create art, and hopefully through my art , I can help make this world a little bit of a better place."
